"What's the secret to finally escaping from that cycle of depression, even if you or a loved one have struggled for years?"

Hi, I'm Christine Sutherland, the Australian therapist who in 1999 developed and trialled a completely new approach to treating depression, without drugs, that had close to 100% success rate and NO relapse.

How did I do that?  

I simply looked at the evidence available and saw that almost every current treatment for depression was hopeless. And those treatments were hopeless for 4 reasons:

1.  If they did finally have any effect at all, they were merely masking the problem, which returned as soon as the treatment stopped.  

My treatment deals with the causes of depression so that it CAN'T come back.


2.  They completely ignored the most common causes of depression, and failed to support the client to make essential lifestyle changes.  

My treatment homes in on at least 17 different lifestyle "errors" that are known to create depression, and supports the client to make those changes so they actually GET A LIFE!


3.  They expected the client to somehow start thinking and feeling differently through SHEER WILLPOWER! (Honestly, that one is just plain insulting to the intelligence of the poor client who has to suffer that sort of "garbage" therapy.)  

If willpower were an issue, no-one would have depression!  Depression has nothing to do with willpower and it's a complete waste of time to harrass a client over the way they think!

4.  They had no clue how to help the client actually switch off those distressing emotional and PHYSICAL sensations of depression!  Many therapists refused to even believe their clients when they described their physical sensations!  

I have 6 different techniques, all of which have been proven in clinical trials, that can switch off those distressing emotional and physical sensations, often IMMEDIATELY!  In fact the reason why drugs are unnecessary with this treatment is that it works faster than the drugs could take effect!

The only thing that stands in your way may be your sense of skepticism about how all this could be achieved, especially if you or your loved ones have struggled with depression for years.

So I want to dispel that skepticism by showing you right here, right now, how simple it can be to finally overcome EVERYTHING!

My depression treatment method is quite detailed and comprehensive, and also addresses the many lifestyle issues that can actually create all the symptoms of depression, but nevertheless the simple technique I'm about to share with you has close to a 100% chance of at least reducing your depression, in just minutes, no matter how severe or long lasting.

Of course you need help to investigate the various causes and triggers to your depression (because this is something your nervous system has learned to respond to and will most likely have multiple "patterns" for) but hopefully this exercise will give you a taste of just how easy success might be.


Step 1 - First Choose Just One Specific Thing to Treat
There are several ways to use this technique.  You could use it to melt away a particular physical sensation that's associated with your depressed feelings (lots of people talk about "crushing bands" or "tightness" or "swirling" for example).  Or you could use it to eliminate feelings of depression in relation to a specific memory fragment which causes you some distress, or the thought of a particular person, or the thought of a precise situation where you tend to feel heavier symptoms of depression.
If you and I were working together we could pin this down very quickly - so I realise I'm asking a lot of you to come up with this by yourself.  But at least you'll get a little bit of an idea about how this part of the program works.
Now having decided on a specific thing to treat, you "rate" the strength of this symptom out of 10, where 10 out of 10 would be the worst you could possibly imagine, and 0 out of 10 would mean it was completely gone.  

Warning:  Do not use this exercise on something which would be more than 5 out of 10!  As a learner, you don't yet have the skill to easily manage more severe or complex symptoms.  This comes very quickly with supervised practice, but for a "first time" I want you to choose something low on the scale!

Step 2 - In Your Own Language, Describe the Symptom

Everyone experiences depression in a very unique way, and therefore we need your own unique words that describe it and in fact trigger at least a bit of your depressed feelings.  For example you might have a "hard" feeling in your stomach that you associate with depression.  And that feeling might feel like a ball, or a fist, or might feel sharp, or something completely different.  As an example, I'm going to say "I have this sharp, grey hardness deep in my stomach". 

Step 3 - Choose a "Contrary" Ending to the Sentence You've Just Made  

For example:

"I have this sharp, grey hardness deep in my stomach, but chocolate melts in the sun."

Step 4 - Now We Act to Totally Confuse Your Brain When it Comes to Producing Depression Symptoms Around this Thought

Simply say your whole sentence over and over again, perhaps 12 or 15 times, and while you're saying it, start tapping with your fingertips quite briskly (not too hard!) over your head, face, chest, arms, tummy, hips, and even your legs if you can reach them.  Also while doing this, add even more complexity by pacing out the letters of your name on the floor.

Be sure to keep your concentration as strongly as possible on the feeling (emotional or physical) that you've selected to work with.  This is not distraction - this is the deliberate triggering and "confusion" of brain patterns.

Step 5 - Stop, and Rate Your Symptom Again

Most people will find that the symptom has changed in some way.  It may be reduced or even completely eliminated, or you may feel that you've changed your mind about the thing you were focussed on.  A different aspect of the symptom might now come to mind.

Also, other symptoms may be more in your awareness, or seem worse.  It is NOT greater, it's just that the symptom you've been treating has reduced, and so other symptoms are now more in your awareness.

Step 6 - Repeat

This process is repeated, changing the words to ensure that you're accurately describing your particular thoughts or feelings in relation to your symptoms.  

As you'll see from the book "Relieving Depression - Quickly, Easily, Safely" there's a lot more to it that this, but at least this simple exercise shows you that you can have an impact on your depression, and it should give you hope that with help you can get even better results.
